Between Monifieth and neighbouring Broughty Ferry are food shops, cafes and boutiques, plus a picturesque harbour and walks along the shoreline. The sea front includes children’s playparks as well as sandy beaches and if you’re lucky you might spot seals and dolphins.
The striking Broughty Castle is well worth a visit. Dating back to 1490, it originally protected the Tay estuary, and now houses a museum which explains the history of this pretty fishing village.
The local station connects through Dundee to the Scottish mainline stations of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. You are also close to the main trunk road network making for straightforward travel.
