LOCATION
With a plethora of excellent local cafes, shops and bars as well as a gorgeous golden beach, it’s easy to see why the seaside village of Broughty Ferry is so popular. It was home to millionaire barons during the height of Dundee’s jute industry, and it retains its high reputation as "The Jewel in Dundee's Crown" today. You can soak up the history at Broughty Castle, which dates back to 1490, or simply enjoy a stroll on the beach.
With excellent air, road and rail links, Broughty Ferry is a superb base for exploring Dundee and the delights of the Angus region. Take a hike in the hills of the Angus Glens or potter around historic villages like Kirriemuir, the birthplace of Peter Pan author JM Barrie.
Broughty Ferry is a great base for golfers too, with the famous courses at Carnoustie, Montrose and St Andrews all within an easy drive.
If you want to go car-free, The Palm at the Ferry is just a four-minute walk to Broughty Ferry train station where you can catch a train into Dundee (only four miles away) and check out V&A Museum, Science Centre and loads of other attractions. You can also venture further afield by train to the bigger cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen.
Welcome to The Palm at the Ferry, enjoy your stay!
We just wanted to give you a heads up; this cottage is quite near the train line. Previous guests have all advised this didn't affect their stay at all but we believe it's fair to mention this beforehand.

Douglas Terrace is one of the most sought-after streets in the upmarket coastal suburb of Broughty Ferry. Just a short walk from the town centre, you’ll find a vibrant mix of pubs, restaurants, and independent shops. The main street is also home to a range of galleries, cafés, and local businesses with plenty of character.
Down by the water, Broughty Castle is a highlight. Built in 1490 to guard the Tay estuary, the castle now houses a museum detailing the area’s fascinating history and its roots as a fishing village.
For golf enthusiasts, some of Scotland’s most iconic courses- including Carnoustie and St Andrews- are within easy reach, along with several excellent local courses ideal for testing your links game. St Andrews is indeed the heart of golf, but true experiences can be found just across the Tay Bridge; in Broughty Ferry. Escape the crowds, enjoy complete privacy, and return to a five-star retreat and uninterrupted waterfront views after a day on the course.
The nearby sandy beach is a haven for local wildlife, and families will enjoy the popular Castle Green playpark. There are also plenty of local cycle paths to explore the coast at your own pace.
